Opera 9.22 fixes security problems

Software vendor Opera has published release 9.22 of its Opera browser for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux . The new release provides some minor functional improvements, for instance when accessing certain web sites underVista, and also various security updates.

The most important one fixes a buffer overflow vulnerability during torrent file processing, which can be used for arbitrary code injection and execution. To allow attackers to execute such attacks, the user must accept a specially crafted Bittorrent download and then remove it again from the list. The new version also eliminates a bug that can be exploited for URL spoofing. Opera provides an overview of all the fixes and changes for the different plattforms in their changelogs.
