Barracuda firewall makes iOS devices easier to connect
According to Barracuda Networks, the new Barracuda NG Firewall firmware makes it easier to connect an Apple iPhone or iPad to a company network via an IPSec VPN as it now supports IPsec XAUTH authenitcation. The new firmware version is can now also run as a virtual firewall under Citrix Xen and the open source Xen hypervisor.
The firewall now uses Network Access Control (NAC) to manage access to the network. Barracuda provides a free, lightweight NAC client, which runs on Windows Vista and Windows 7 and which checks and implements local security policies. Other new features include support for network monitoring technology IPFIX (Internet Protocol Flow Information Export) and a modified administration GUI, which should simplify installation of single Barracuda NG Firewalls, in part by using more industry naming standards. Further details can be found on the company's blog.
