VideoLAN Project releases DVBlast 1.0
The VideoLAN Project developers, creators of the VLC Media Player, have announced the release of version 1.0 of DVBlast. DVBlast is a streaming application for Linux Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) devices based on the linux-dvb API. DVB cards and devices allow PC users to watch and record over-the-air video broadcasts on a computer. DVBlast is intended to be the core of a custom integrated receiver/decoder (IRD) on a PC with Linux supported DVB cards.
The lightweight application tunes the DVB hardware, places PID filters, configures a CAM module and demultiplexes the packets to several RTP outputs. DVBlast 1.0 only has one dependency (libdvbpsi), offers PID-based or service-based filtering and the configuration file that describes outputs can be reloaded without losing any packets. Users looking for transcoding, PID remapping, re-multiplexing or streaming from files should switch to the VLC Media Player.
DVBlast 1.0 is released under the GPL License and is avaible to download (direct download).
