The Document Foundation welcomes Canonical contribution
The Document Foundation has publicly welcomed Canonical 's contribution to the development of LibreOffice. The Foundation notes that Canonical has added a full-time team member Bjoern Michaelsen, who recently left Oracle, to work with the LibreOffice developers. Michaelsen is described as having a "deep expertise on the LibreOffice core". Canonical's work is expected to have a positive impact in the future on the Ubuntu and Debian versions of LibreOffice.
The Foundation also welcomed Canonical's contribution of LibreOffice fixes for ARM-based platforms and the company's sponsorship of Codethink who have been working on Unity/LibreOffice integration by adding support for the Unity global menu bar.
