Red Hat's OpenShift supports Java EE 6

Red Hat has enhanced OpenShift, its PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) offering, with support for Java Enterprise Edition (EE) 6. According to the vendor, OpenShift is the first PaaS solution that works with Java EE 6. The free-to-use platform uses the recently released JBoss Application Server 7 to provide the Java EE 6 functionality. The company hopes that the combination of OpenShift and Java EE support will allow developers to more easily build and deploy Java applications in the cloud.

OpenShift supports a wide range of programming languages, frameworks and databases including Ruby, Python, Perl, PHP, Java EE, Spring, MySQL, SQLite, MongoDB, Membase and Memcache. OpenShift itself is currently not open source; Red Hat has stated that it plans to open source the code behind the service but has not given a timescale for that to happen. It is currently offered as a hosted cloud service aimed at open source using developers.
